- For the most part, the Plateau people were peaceful people, but wars did occur on occasion.
- The cause of war was usually food. For example, the Secwepemc sometimes raided Stl'atl'imx areas for slaves or salmon.
- In war, they used spears, bows and arrows, knives, and clubs.
- During times of extended warfare, there were even stockades built around villages.
